Tattnall Baseball sweeps Stratford tonight 4-0 and 6-5

Tattnall Baseball defeated Stratford tonight 4-0 and 6-5 to make it a clean sweep of the Eagles in 2022 in the GHSA Region 1A-Private series.
The Trojans had to move Thursday's game to Friday and play a DH based on Thursday morning's weather and the field conditions at Stratford. Everything worked out in Tattnall's favor.
In game one, the Trojans were led by Cooper McMullen's complete-game gem. The sophomore right-hander threw a complete-game two-hit shoutout with eight strikeouts.
Offensively, Tattnall was led in game one by Benjamin Stubbs' 4/4 performance. Stubbs led off the game with a double and scored a run - the only one the Trojans would need.
Gabe McGreggor, DJ Willis, Charlie Morris, Wilton Bumgardner, and Riley McCallum each had one hit for Tattnall.
Game two was a back-and-forth affair. The Trojans scored one in the first. Stratford answered in the bottom of the second to tie the game 1-1. The score stayed tied at one until the top of the sixth when Tattnall blasted two HRs. The first was a solo shot by Cooper McMullen. The second was a two-run blast by Wilton Bumgardner.
Some sloppy defense and timely hitting allowed Stratford to answer with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Tattnall's starting pitcher Clay Rowland, who threw very well tonight, gave up the first two baserunners before being relieved by Gabe McGreggor.
Down 5-4 heading to the top of the 7th, the Trojans rallied. Benjamin Stubbs walked with one out in the 7th. Russ Miller then grounded out, and Tattnall was down to its final out. Cooper McMullen had an infield single that tipped off the first baseman's glove and allowed Stubbs to score from second base. Charlie Morris then delivered a two out double to LF to score McMullen, and Tattnall took a 6-5 lead.
Gabe McGreggor finished off the Eagles in the seventh.
Russ Miller and Charile Morris both had two hits for Tattnall. Morris and Bumgardner led the way with 2 RBIs each. Stubbs and McMullen both had two runs scored.
Tattnall currently sits atop Region 1A-Private with a record of 8-0 and improved to 16-4 overall. The Trojans will match with FPD (14-4) in a three game series next week. Tattnall will play at FPD (currently 7-2 and in second place in the Region) on Tuesday at 7:00 and then will host FPD on Thursday in a 4:00 DH.
